One Stop Prostate Assessment

by Patrick

The collaborative all-Ireland report from he National Cancer Registry (?ire) and the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry shows that Prostate Cancer ranks top amongst the cancers in males (19.9%, or 1 in 5 men). It is more prevalent than lung or colorectal cancers, and out-strips eight other well-known cancers combined (thyroid, liver, testis, pancreas, œsophagus, leukæmia, stomach, kidney and renal pelvis cancers together register an 18.7% incidence).

We all agree that the earlier we are able to detect Prostate Cancer the better.

Until now the process for detection was long and tedious. Beginning with a direct rectal examination by the GP, referral to an Urologist (can take up to 3 months), blood and urine tests (a wait for these results), referral for Ultrasound (can take another 3 months), and then having the Urine Flow measured. This was always a long, demotivating and costly process.

Now the Irish Centre of Integrated Medicine (ICIM) in St John’s Grove, Johnstown, Naas, Co. Kildare (tel: 045 844 819)) have an answer: they have introduced the One-Stop Prostate Assessment System:

PROCEDURE
Step 1: Questionnaire detailing medical history
Step 2: Ultrasound scans of bladder, kidneys and prostate
Step 3: Urine flow measured and ultrasound to determine urine residue
Step 4: Urine analysis
Step 5: Blood analysis (for prostate-specific antigen)

The whole procedure takes one hour, results are given immediately. This early detection system can help men to beat Prostate Cancer and maintain a normal life. Please note: ICIM’s Total Prostate Assessment is available by appointment only, by ringing 045 844 819.

This One-Stop Prostate Assessment at ICIM uses a new combination of high technology to help in the earliest detection of Prostate Cancer. With no invasive procedure, no pain, no extensive waiting time and no radiation it has proven to have helped men in Ireland in the battle against Prostate Cancer.
