Have you lost weight in the past, regained it and lost it again? You’re not the only one and it may indicate it’s simply time to take a fresh look at your relationship with food, your body and weight to begin achieving balance from within first and foremost.

Many of us will have experienced excess weight occurring when food is used as a tool to distract from thoughts, feelings and situations that we feel are uncomfortable or difficult. But these thoughts or feelings can become stuck in the body and maladaptive behaviour with food becomes their expression. Over a period of time these feelings cause a block in the flow of energy in the body causing an imbalance and lessening our ability to deal with behaviours related to food. But when you get the inside right, the outside falls into place.

Behaviours are not repeated because they are good or bad but because of our attachment to them, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Any habit/thought/pattern etc. That we repeat, we do so because there is a need for it. This need is driven by a belief or set of beliefs, many of which we are not even aware of.

Just for a moment, relax and ask yourself, “What need am I satisfying by my behaviour with food?”

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change, questioning yourself honestly and lovingly about it can help you begin to see where changes can come from, enabling you to transform your relationship with food, body, weight and self.
