Most of us start, finish and, health permitting, spend up to a third of this life in bed. Nobody gets out alive, so let’s make the best of it while we’re here, in this world of the senses, this sensual earth, under heaven.

We ought to mention at this point that the ancient Taoists didn’t have a hell, just Heaven and Earth. A good start but what about sin? The guiding principle: do what you like as long as you don’t hurt anyone. Like the Wiccan ‘An it harm none, do thy will.’

Back to Earth, the Realm of the Senses, and Life in Bed. The Taoist Classic ‘Art of The Bedchamber’ enjoins ‘If you want to understand the business of life then study where life begins and where life ends, the business of the bedchamber.’ But what should we study? How can what we do in bed influence life out of bed? Does life outside really affect our life in the bedchamber?

The Taoists say if things are good at home then generally they are good outside. As we reflect on our own situation we understand the truth that lies in that statement. Lucky for us they didn’t confine themselves to the theory of everything but left a legacy of secret practices, both profound and useful, to make the best of this life, in and out of bed.

Coming to the Buddha Bag in Dublin to share these secrets are Anamarta, Creator of the Jade Egg Holistic Practice and Kuan Yin Qigong, and Kris Deva North, Mantak Chia Co-Author, and Founder of Mantak Chia Taoist Training London.
