Glenstal Abbey is a beautiful place of peace, serenity, nature and love. This summer there are a number of interesting events on their calendar. Marsha Eger will be hosting a number of these and you can view the full list at the link below. Or maybe even check yourself in to one of Glenstal’s Godpods for a quiet break away from everything.

2-5 July, Inspired Writing, the 3rd Annual Writers’ Retreat

Four days at Glenstal Abbey devoted solely to nurturing your writing in a supportive environment, for aspiring and seasoned writers with Marsha Eger (chantingmeditation@yahoo.com) and Eva O Callaghan (eocalla@gmail.com)

This third annual writers’ retreat is for aspiring and seasoned writers alike and is devoted this year to finding entry into personal creativity through mindfulness and other spiritual and inspirational practices. This is not a nuts and bolts writing course, but rather a writers’ retreat; an opportunity to be immersed in the spiritual environment and rhythm of Glenstal Abbey, and draw inspiration from the facilitators, lecturers and other participants. We will engage in writing exercises across a wide variety of genres and look at ways of entering the creative space such as using chant and meditation, walks in the woods, movement, readings and of course the rhythm of Glenstal. An evening session of chanting meditation will be offered for anyone wishing to participate and a special wine and cheese evening in the guesthouse living room will provide special time for reading aloud, sharing your own work or the work of someone who inspires you.

This writing retreat, given by certified writing facilitator, Eva O Callaghan and Marsha Eger, poet and international teacher of chanting meditation, is an opportunity to connect with your creative processes, allow them their space and see what emerges. The retreat will also include a special welcome by (Abbot Mark Patrick Hederman) and a special poetry reading, open to the public, with American born, award winning guest poet, Fanny Howe on Saturday, 4 July, 2015, at 4:30 pm in the Glenstal Abbey library.

The cost for the retreat is €225. For further information or to register contact Eva O Callaghan eocalla@gmail.com or Marsha Eger chantingmeditation@yahoo.com.

Accommodations in the Glenstal Guesthouse are separate and include three meals daily. Those staying off site can pay an additional fee for lunch and possibly supper, depending upon space availability in the monastic dining room. To reserve a room in the guesthouse, please emailguestmaster@glenstal.org or call 061 621 005. Limited places, early booking advised.
