More than three million individuals worldwide have signed the Charter for Compassionwww.charterforcompassion.org/index.php/charter since it was launched by Karen Armstrong http://bit.ly/20uYzZE(funded by a TED talk prize) in 2008. Cities of Compassion have been declared in more than 50 countries across the world. There has not yet been one in the Republic of Ireland (Belfast signed the Charter for Compassion in July 2014).

Come and join us in discussing ideas and plans to make Dublin A City of Compassion on Tuesday 24th November 7.00pm – 9.30 pm in the Clyde Court Hotel (Formerly the Berkeley Court), Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 at an event hosted by Marilyn Turkovich, Global Director of the Charter for Compassion.

“We believe that a compassionate world is possible when every man, woman and child treats others as they wish to be treated–with dignity, equity and respect. We believe that all human beings are born with the capacity for compassion, and that it must be cultivated for human beings to survive and thrive. Join to make compassion a clear, luminous and dynamic force in our polarized world. Embrace the compassion revolution.”

Marilyn (http://bit.ly/1WwVrgn) will speak about the transformative power of Compassionate Cities and share on-going initiatives for business, education, welfare and the environment that are transforming cities and bringing about significant change for the better. She will share how cities across the globe are supporting and learning from each other, using the Charter for Compassion to create a better world.

This will be followed by a screening of the documentary Kindness is Contagious, which demonstrates the benefits of the Charter in action. Directed by David Gaz, it is based on the international bestselling book by Catherine Hyde Pay It Forward. The evening will conclude with a discussion about how to move forward and galvanise support for creation of a plan to make Dublin A City of Compassion. Panellists will include Marilyn Turkovich , Eamon Ryan, Leader of the Green party, and Councillor Mary Freehill. Further panellists to be announced.
