Armoin’s mission statement: Harmony On All Levels
My name is Caoimhe Harrison. I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Psychotherapy. I am also a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders, which involves all food, body and weight issues. In my work I specialize in working with people around their relationship with food, eating and their attitude towards it and themselves.
My passion stems from both my own experience of having an eating disorder as an adolescent and my relentless futile efforts of embarking on one diet after another in the hope that each diet will be ‘the one’ that will finally end my ongoing weight loss quest.
When embarking on my Master Practitioner training in October 2010 I began to look at the issue of disordered eating and weight loss from a completely different perspective. I made a promise and commitment to myself that day that I would never diet again. A promise I have proudly kept. I literally threw out the scales and have not stepped back on them since.
I realised then that I was tackling the issue on a completely wrong level. My food intake and eating habits were the symptom of the issue and not the cause. Just tackling it on the level of the symptom (i.e. dieting) without looking at the root cause meant always tackling it.
On the surface level these issues appear to be just about food and eating; I’m here to tell you that they are also really not about food and eating. Armed with this discovery, I was better able to understand myself and consequently empower myself in a way that was not self-destructive to me or my body. The result – I have reached and maintained my ideal weight for the last 15 years. My mindset around food has changed and that, and only that, has made the difference. I invite you to do the same.
Caoimhe’s next available workshop is scheduled for April 23rd, 2016. For info please visit here.
