Positive Therapy

“The Best Massage in Town”
That’s how our big boss referred to Ravi, a masseur who operates out of Oscailt Integrative Health & Therapy Centre.
Massage is the ultimate treat: a healing, nourishing experience that allows us to replenish, de-stress, and be good to ourselves. Yet it is also a deep practice that can help us return to harmony, open to what is happening within the body, and release areas of tension both physically and emotionally. Received regularly, it can be a core support to deep well-being.

Positive Venue

“The Enniskerry Farm Kitchen”
I was chatting to Danny, the owner and operator of the new organic restaurant,
The Enniskerry Farm Kitchen, opening on March 17th in Powerscourt Gardens, Enniskerry, and he told me about his philosophy to bring something benificial not only to his customers, but also the community, staff and environment. It sounded inspiring, and I’ve already tasted plenty of the head chef Dorene Palmer’s amazing food. It’s one place I plan to visit time and time again.

Their website www.theenniskerryfarmkitchen.ie will be up and running shortly, so stay tuned.

Positive Book

“Fit for Love”
This book changed my Life recently. It helps you to uncover the subconscious beliefs that are holding you back in your life. By doing the written exercises provided in the book, I was amazed to discover that all of the negative situations I was attracting into my life, were based on one or other of only 3 negative beliefs I have held about myself since childhood. Once I became aware of them, I noticed every time they were triggered by some outer circumstance and I was able to go about reconditioning my beliefs through the use of affirmations and positive actions. I highly recommend this book, and am glad to announce that the author, Olga Sheean, is going to be a regular columnist for our print magazine.

They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been reengineered around TEDTalks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world’s most inspiring voices.

Positive CD

“Sui”
Sui (the Irish word meaning “Sit”) is a mindfulness meditation and relaxation package including CDs, a step by step booklet and beautiful handmade meditation / yoga stools.  The whole Sui project was inspired by Derval Dunford’s recovery from illness.  Sui CDs are not only a huge hit, but have literally been recommended by a doctor.  I got one as a Christmas surprise.

Positive Film

“Yes Man”
One word can change everything, and in this hugely entertaining film starring Jim Carrey we see the effect the word Yes has on one man who had built up a habit of saying No to life.  After begrudgingly attending a self-help seminar he commits to saying Yes to all that life throws at him for one year.  The results are hilarious, surprising, sometimes tragic but ultimately uplifting.  You can rent it from any good DVD store or buy it as an addition to your inspiring movies collection, like I did.

Positive News

“Local Currency”
I asked Davie Philip, the education manager of the Cultivate center, if he knew of any positive news stories.  He told me that Kilkenny is taking steps to create its own currency.  As far as I can tell, it’s meant to bring them more towards community sufficiency and further away from global dependency.  They are becoming masters of their own lives.

Playful, profound, and above all, practical, One-Moment Meditation teaches you that inner peace is not a distant goal reserved for saints and sages, and it doesn’t take a lot of time: it only takes a moment.

The new release is “The Vortex” by Jerry and Esther Hicks.  This latest installment of the teachings of Abraham focuses on our relationships with our self, our source, our loved ones, our unloved ones and the planet we all share.  It helps us to release all the Flawed Premises we’ve picked up over our life, in exchange for Freedom and Joy.

Recent university studies have shown that this type of body-conditioning improves muscle strength, increases metabolism, and reduces body fat. It has also been proven to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, improve balance & posture, and increase bone density. This easy, time-saving exercise requires just ten minutes every-other-day.
After testing the Reviber Plus for its ability to tone muscle, The Independent on Sunday gave the Reviber Plus 5 out of 5, saying that it not only delivers ‘impressive results’, but that it is also ‘easy to use and is excellent value for money’.

“Clearing Your Channel, and Soul Recovery Foundation Healing Technique” with Janine Thorp and Damien Wynne.
Fri 25th, 7pm-10pm and Sun 27th Sept, 10am-4pm
The Mews, Oscailt, 8 Pembroke Rd, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4
This technique is unique compared to others. Damien was taught it by highly evolved beings and entities, and has been practising very successfully in Budapest for the past 3 years. He has now been asked to pass it on to others.
This workshop is the equivalent to 7 or 8 individual healing sessions, clearing many blocks and patterns, and also gives the tools of the healing technique so that those who wish to use them in future can do so, and those who don’t, can become significantly more clear about their own channel, more grounded and more aligned, and feel more confident about their purpose and path in life.

“Positive News”

Usually found in fields of corn or barley, crop circles have begun appearing in yellow rapeseed fields across Wiltshire. Michael Glickman, an expert on the phenomena, said: “I’ve seen the odd one in rapeseed fields previously, but I know of 11 giant yellow circles that have appeared in May alone.”
Rapeseed is tougher and more brittle than corn or barley, making it trickier to create the intricate designs. Most rapeseed fields are now turning green but with a long, hot summer forecast, record numbers of ever more complicated patterns materialising in farmers’ fields are predicted.
Mr Glickman visited his first crop circle in 1990 and is the author of several books on the subject, but after 19 years of studying them, he can offer “no explanation” for how or why crop circles appear.
The term “crop circle” was coined by researcher Colin Andrews in the early 80s and it entered the Oxford Dictionary in 1997. Another expert on the subject, Pat Delgado, died this weekend aged 90.
Mr Delgado wrote the best-selling book Circular Evidence in 1989, but retired two years later when two men from Southampton claimed they made all the crop circles with a plank of wood and rope.

But we know better than that!

Written by one of the most innovative musicians of our time, “The Music Lesson” is the story of a frustrated musician, who encounters an urban Zen-like Master of Music who guides him through a spiritual journey of higher education of both Music and Life.
Have you ever wondered what the greatest musicians in the world know that you don’t?  Do you have thousands of books with all the same information rehashed in a different way?  Victor Wooten takes us to a different place; no scales or theory here.  We’ve all heard that Music is a language and Victor shows us why it is a language and how to speak it.
Lacing the book with imaginative metaphors and unlikely comparisons, there’s more wisdom contained in these pages than most musicians will ever learn in a lifetime.  If you’re ready to explore Music beyond the classroom, then this is what you’ve been waiting for.  It is said that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear…are you ready?

“Fish and Greens from your Living Room” By Sarah Wilkinson
French designer Mathieu Lehanneur is renowned for his exquisite modernist designs that boast an equally important ecological purpose. His latest creation, recently displayed at the Artists Space Gallery in New York, is Local River, an indoor, self-contained, living ecosystem.
The unit breeds freshwater fish, that share the space with kitchen vegetables housed in floating glass pods. The plants extract nutrients from the fishes’ nitrate-rich waste and also act as a natural filter, purifying and maintaining a vital balance for the environment in which the fish live.
Mathieu drew inspiration for his design from a gathering of culinary adventurers known as The Locavores. The group’s aim is to only eat food grown within a 100-mile radius of their homes. In doing so, they avoid the pollution inherent to the transportation of food stuffs, while also ensuring product traceability, safety and taste freshness.
