A Winning Attitude
By Laura Ivers
László Andraschek, a formerly homeless, Hungarian man, made a spontaneous decision to purchase a lottery ticket with his last few coins last Autumn. Heavily in debt at the time, his ticket resulted in a significant win. He and his wife have paid off their debts, the debts of relatives and purchased homes for their children. “We don’t think of the win as something we earned, we think of it as a divine miracle.”
Awareness of the story spread after they made a substantial donation to a homeless shelter and László and his wife now intend to set up a foundation to support others going through difficult times.
“It is our duty to take those people who have shared our difficult experiences by the hand…it is easier to survive, and then move on, with someone beside you.”
