SUMMARY:Buddha Bag Meeting 13 August: Rewire Your Brain for Happiness with Mindfulness
DESCRIPTION:Kathryn O’Halloran Wants to Rewire Your Brain for Happiness with an Evening of Mindfulness\nThursday 13 August\, 8pm\, The Lantern Centre\, Dublin 8. Tickets €15/10 concession. \nSee who else is attending and start some mindful conversations on the Facebook Event Page > \nIt can become a constant challenge trying to maintain calm and wellbeing in the midst of a busy routine and time pressures. True you can’t stop the waves\, but you can learn to surf them and mindfulness is proving the perfect key to this for many people. \nIs there anyone out there who doesn’t wish to be happy? Isn’t it this universal desire that drives us a lot of the time? Scientists have found a direct link between how often our minds leave the present moment and our happiness levels. Thinking about the past and the future is not a problem per se\, in fact it’s very useful but ask yourself how often do you get caught up in the commotion of the mind and how do you tend to feel when the mind is in this state. Mindfulness teaches us how to live in the present moment more and how to relate to whatever unfolds with more equanimity. \nBenefits people see when using mindfulness: \n\nLasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms\nAn increased ability to relax\nReduced pain and/or an enhanced ability to cope with pain that may not go away\nGreater vitality and enthusiasm for life\nImproved self esteem and self acceptance\nAn ability to cope more effectively with stressful situations\n\nAbout Kathryn: Kathryn O’Halloran is a teacher of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programme.  She brings heart and passion to the teaching of mindfulness and works within a wide range of settings from prisons\, to schools\, to banks and within the general community. \nKathryn has a mindfulness programme starting this September and you can find out more about it on her website below. \nmindfulway.ie
