A Journey Back to Myself at Creacon Retreat Centre

When I first made my way to Creacon Prema Agni Retreat Centre in February 2010, I thought I was just going for a workshop. I had no idea what I had signed up for! As I walked through the doors, I felt like I had stepped into another world. The warmth and familiarity with which I was greeted, the peace and quiet of the surroundings and the sanctity of the meditation hall prompted me, over that week, to “smile, breathe and move slowly”(~Thich Nhat Hahn). I felt the melting of resistance as I began to bask in the energetic embrace of this unique space-place. I experienced the grip of the “monkey mind” start to loosen and watched as a softness replaced it and an unhurried pace set in. At the same time, I was energized, light-hearted and filled with optimism and possibility. The energy of Creacon is palpable – it is deep and profound and provides nourishment, warmth and comfort.

By the end of the week, I knew I had happened upon something incredibly special. So much so that, after I returned home to Canada, I couldn’t get the experience out of my mind. Within six weeks I had signed up for the long-term retreat program and embarked upon an inner journey that has shifted the course of my life. Against a backdrop of breathtaking beauty, I began the process of getting to know myself. Through the Summer, I opened to the opportunities to “meet and greet” parts of me that were hidden and to bring some time-tested spiritual teachings into my life. In doing so, I have become part of a heart-centred, loving community. Since the retreat, I have been back to Creacon twice and the magic never fails to amaze. When they say “Welcome Home”, I know I am.
