Enjoy the Silence
Chris Flack (The Suited Yogi) discovered the benefits of Silence whilst living in Delhi (India), one of the busiest cities in the world in 2013. In September 2014 he’s going back to Delhi to give a TEDx talk on the subject and gives us a quick insight.
We all live in a world of over stimulation where just the thought of silence is filled by a new app or media channel. We are often scared of silence yet when we are born it’s our natural form (when we are in our happiest state). If we enjoy the silence and treat ourselves to this simple luxury we’ll see huge benefits in our ability to listen and develop inner peace.
Instead of forcing yourself to do meditation (inc. meditation apps!) why not do something you love but without stimulation and noise. Being silent doesn’t have to mean you have to head off to a silent retreat. Cook, run or go for a walk with your partner. However, put your phone on flight mode and have no music. Listen to your breath and enjoy the silence.
Chris previously worked 15 years in high pressure corporate sales roles in Ireland/UK and in 2012 moved to work as a consultant in the not for profit sector and a yoga teacher. As The Suited Yogi his main goal is to make yoga and meditation more accessible.
Details of his TEDx talk will be up towards the end of September.
