Donna Eden puts wellbeing in the best possible hands – your own, interviewed by Anthony Sharkey.

Ken Wilber recently described Donna Eden’s book ‘Energy Medicine’ as “the most definitive and comprehensive” book on self-healing he has ever read. She has taught over 80,000 people the Energy Medicine philosophies, skills and steps they need to heal themselves quickly and often completely.
How did you get into Energy Medicine in the first place? In my late twenties I was dying. I had allergies, Multiple Sclerosis, had a heart attack, had been in a coma and my organs were shutting down. Doctors said that there was nothing more that they could do for me. I realised that I would have to heal myself if I was to survive. As it happened, I had the ability to see and feel energies. So I decided instinctively to start to work on my body on an energetic level. I went home and put my hand on my knee and thigh and to my amazement it only took three minutes for me to see and feel my energies begin to connect up and flow and for my body to feel a bit better.
I continued working in this way and figured out for myself how to get my energies flowing in the way they were meant to flow. Over the next seven weeks, all my allergies dropped away. My organs started working again. The strength in my legs came back and I gradually came back to full and complete health with no sign of the M.S.
How do you explain your recovery, it seems miraculous, at least from a traditional Western medical perspective? I realized that the reason I was so sick was because the inbuilt healing energies in my body were confused. It was like I was trying to figure out where the switches and fuse box were in my house so that I could get the power flowing.
Would you say that the energies of the body are like electricity then? Absolutely, your body has an electrical circuitry just like your house or your car. If the electrics in your body aren’t working properly, your body won’t work properly.
How do you explain your capacity to see and feel energies, its seems like an extraordinary skill? It seems extraordinary but it’s not. The reason we all have this capacity is simple. My mother told me I had it!She’d talked to me about my aura and how the color of it changes, and how everything was giving off a vibration. She spoke about all this in a completely natural sort of way, energies were taken as a given when I was growing up at home.
Do you think every child has these capacities to see energies? Yes of course. I recommend to parents that they talk to their children about energies as if seeing them and feeling them is the most natural thing in the world. I have a five-year-old grandson called Tiernan who has been brought up in this way. He can see energies, he knows how to heal others and interestingly he knows what to do for himself when he is overwhelmed or in any way stressed. He turned out like this because his parents completely presumed that he had these abilities. Babies up to the age of a year have these abilities but the become dormant if they aren’t encouraged and kept alive.
What about people who weren’t brought up like this, can they catch up? That’s why I teach my classes. Most people who come to classes can’t see energies in the beginning. When they learn the techniques they get familiar with the reality of the energy systems, then if they stay with Energy Medicine they eventually turn on their abilities again to see or at least to feel them.
Is energy medicine the answer alone or does it need other forms of medicine to complement it? The purpose of all medicine is to heal illness – no matter what approach you use. This common purpose is where all forms of medicine can complement each other. Many doctors and nurses come to my classes. Then, instead of feeling obliged to give their patients medications they send them off with an Energy Medicine exercise! Doctors treat physical illness mostly and we need them to do this for us. But Energy Medicine doesn’t really treat the physical illness, more the underlying cause of illness. The cause is usually a disruption of the normal flow of the energy around the body. If somebody comes to me with a disease label of cancer for instance, I just want to find out where the disruption is. Then I go about fixing the disruption so that everything starts flowing in harmony again.
Many people say that humanity is going through some kind of ‘shift’ at the moment. Do you see any real evidence for this or is it just a new age myth? No, I think this is real. I see it and I feel it. Consciousness is taking quantum leap forwards. It has been happening since the early nineties at least. I see many examples but can I share something about what I see in terms of the actual energies of the earth shifting and its impact on individuals?…It won’t be too woo woo for your readers?
I don’t think so Donna. Go for it!
I see energies on the earth as well as people. The earths energies changed from Blue to Violet in 1990 and is about to change again. Blue was there at the time of my birth. The Blue era to call it that was a time of government Social welfare schemes – with the idea that everybody could be taken care of on some level. Blue is the color of mothering. Individually, some people vibrated with Blue, these people tended to take care of other people. In the first few days after I started to see the color Violet around everything social upheaval and turmoil started to happen on a big scale – Tiananmen Square, the Berlin wall coming down, Eastern Europe breaking up etc. The upheaval hasn’t stopped since. At the same time, individually, people who vibrated with Violet began to open up to power – I mean real power – spiritual power. Violets found themselves with an inner urge to use this lifetime to finally break free. The opening didn’t come with flowers and butterflies but with a lot of personal turmoil just as it was happening on a social level. There have been a lot of hard, painful lessons for Violet people over the last 20 years.
You will be glad to know that the Violet era is coming to an end over these next 2 years. I am already seeing a new color coming in this new color. The tough time for Violets is finally coming to an end. The new color? I’ll share that when I speak in Dublin.
What would you say is your highest excitement at the moment? Apart from my grandson Tiernan?! I think it’s seeing energy medicine take off all over the world. It excites me to see ordinary people learn how change their life and their health around very quickly. And as I say, to finally put their own health into the best possible hands – their own. Kids change from feeling stupid to smart, divorces get prevented, people begin to age joyously and serious physical and mental diseases disappear. That’s exciting.
Donnas Top 3 Self-Healing Techniques
Marching in Step: Gets your left and right brain communicating with each other, aids recovery. Start marching on the spot bringing your left elbow to your right knee and your right elbow to your left knee. Do about 30 marches.
Crown Pull: Like doing your own craniosacral session, great for brain-fog!
Put the fingertips of both your hands at the centre of your forehead pointing towards each other. Keep pressing into your skin and gently drag your fingers away from each other. Put your fingers higher up on your forehead and repeat this movement. Keep moving over your head in this way with your hands at the centre, pressing into your skull and pulling out until you reach your neck and finally let your fingers hang on your shoulders muscles. Do this 2- 3 times.
Hook Up: Good for getting you out of your head. Touch your belly button with fingers of one hand and touch your third eye with the other. Gently press in and pull up. Hold for about one minute.
