Shanbally House & Gardens opening in Summer 2020

Shanbally House & Gardens is situated on 200 acres, located just outside Toomevara, Co. Tipperary.  It is set to open in Summer 2020. Visitors will have the opportunity to walk through landscaped herbal gardens and take in the scent and the array of colours at various time of the year.  Shanbally’s ethos is all about celebrating ‘health through nature’, and a visit to Shanbally will not only be a sensory experience, but also a vessel for learning all about herbal and natural health.

Exploring Shanbally House is a must. Walk through the rooms on the ground floor, that have been restored and furnished in keeping with the Georgian period.  Each room has been tastefully decorated, while also displaying artefacts relevant to herbal medicine, with storyboards explaining Shanbally’s link to herbal medicine.  The basement of Shanbally House is home to the Farmacy Café, a plant-based café using fresh produce which is grown and harvested from Shanbally’s organic farm.  Located in the adjoining courtyard is their Education space, which can accommodate up to 100 people, hosting 4 meetings rooms, reception and retail shop, and a dedicated catering venue, serving a plant-based menu to complement each event using fresh produce from the venue’s organic farm.

Due to the unforeseen events of late, their calendar of events has been postponed until September 2020.  The team are currently busy rescheduling their fore-planned events such as the Lyme Conference, due to take place in June, but now planned in early 2021. Shanbally’s variety of interactive workshops, seminars, talks and conferences, will cater not only Herbalists and Practitioners in general but also for the general public that have an interest in health-related topics.  Visit their education page to view the calendar of  upcoming events.

It is also possible to hire these rooms for corporate events, receptions and meetings. If you are looking for a unique venue for a special event, we can work with you to tailor the event for your needs.

The next courtyard is home to the Therapy Rooms, a multidisciplinary clinic with experienced Practitioners specialising in up to 12 different modalities including but not limited to herbalists, homeopaths, nutritionists, massage therapists and reflexologists. On the other side of this courtyard, is the Shanbally Haybarn, where clients can avail of infrared saunas and herbal baths to complement their appointments.

On the other side of the estate is Shanbally Organic Farm, which currently grows up to 150 different types of herbs and vegetables which are harvested for use in the Irish Herb Dispensary.  However, visitors to Shanbally will have the opportunity to purchase these herbal plants and organic grown vegetables in our retail area.  Throughout the year, Shanbally Farm hosts volunteer days and practical continuous professional days for practitioners.

Located one mile away from Shanbally House & Gardens is the Irish Herb Dispensary.  Here, the herbs harvested from the farm are processed, resulting in powders, dried herbs and tinctures that are then sold online to Herbalists, both in Ireland and internationally.
