We live in a time of a planetary crisis and opportunity. Joanna Macy, the root teacher of the Work That Reconnects, refers to this as the Great Turning and describes it as “the essential adventure of our time: the shift from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization.” This dynamic, interactive body of work has inspired many thousands of people to engage wholeheartedly in the Great Turning. It brings a new way of seeing the world as our larger living body, and frees us from the assumptions and attitudes that now threaten all life on Earth. Come to be renewed and refreshed as we build community and turn despair in the face of overwhelming social and ecological crises into collaborative action.

Anne Symens-Bucher is an American of Irish descent who is honoured to be on Irish soil offering the Work that Reconnects, which has profoundly shaped and formed her own life. Anne was first introduced to the work of Joanna Macy in 1984 and has been her executive assistant for the past 10 years. Anne and her husband Terry are the parents of five children and the co-founders of Canticle Farm community in Oakland, California, where Anne facilitates the Work That Reconnects with Joanna Macy and others.

Dolores Whelan is a teacher within the Celtic spiritual tradition, whose ancient wisdom offers a new way forward for humankind. Dolores believes that the deep truths held within the soul and psyche of Ireland are re-emerging. Dolores trained with Joanna Macy in the 1990s and been inspired by the power of her vision and work. She facilitates workshops and retreats in Celtic Spirituality and in personal and societal empowerment.
