Choosing Happiness – Part 2

“There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.” ~ Buddha. As soon as you choose to be happy, you are already on the path. The path of happiness is also the path of your true self. They can not be separated.

Gratitude is a simple technique that we can incorporate into our everyday lives. Being grateful and appreciative allows us to recognise what we already have. It can raise our energy levels to a higher state of joy.

Who do you choose to be most of the time? Someone who is grateful or someone who complains a lot? Being grateful results in happiness. There is always something to be grateful for. We can be grateful to be alive, grateful for the food we have to eat, grateful for the people in our lives, etc.

We have a choice from moment to moment. Choosing to complain is identifying with our ego and not our true selves. Being grateful moves our energy from our mind to our heart, which is where our true self is. The more often you choose to be grateful and appreciate what you like or consider beautiful, the more love, peace and happiness you will feel.

21 days forms a habit. For 21 days every morning or evening, write a list in a gratitude journal. Beside each entry, write the reasons that you are grateful for it. People who do this regularly have a lower level of stress and a higher level of happiness. Remember, you are choosing how to feel.

Practise happiness and evolve in joy.
