CBD (cannabidiol), one of the many components of the hemp plant, has become very popular in recent years. We recently sat down with Brian Cusack, the founder of Dr Hemp Me, to take a deep dive into the potential benefits that CBD can offer.

CBD, or Cannabiodiol, is one of the various chemical compounds (known as cannabinoids) that make up the structure of the whole hemp plant. CBD oil has become a sensation in the complementary health world in recent years, so I was glad to speak with Brian Cusack, founder of Dr Hemp Me, to learn more about it.
‘In the whole plant, there are about 130 different cannabinoids,’ he explained. ‘CBD is just one of them – so to get CBD, manufacturers often extract all other compounds, leaving only CBD behind. This means you’re only getting the benefit of that one cannabinoid, without any of the others that work with it. Broad-spectrum CBD, on the other hand, does contain a lot of other cannabinoids.’
Brian first became interested in the potential benefits of broad-spectrum CBD after seeing how it positively affected his sports recovery. ‘I had heard about CBD oil back in 2016. At the time, I was doing a lot of training, so I decided to try CBD oil, as I had heard it could be a good anti-inflammatory.’
His opinion of CBD really shifted after he witnessed how it helped his girlfriend to overcome debilitating migraines.
He emphasises that not everyone who takes CBD oil will experience identical effects, but he has acquired a large number of positive testimonials from people who have found that it helped them.
