We are excited to share this sneak peek from our Winter 2018/19 issue, exploring the incredible healing journey of Dr. Alweena Awan, who now leads Ho’oponopono Harmonising Circles (HHC) all over the world, giving people an understanding of the theory and philosophy behind Ho’oponopono – an ancient Hawaiian practice of forgiveness. Read on to learn all about it.
Have you been looking for the perfect combination fish oil to add to your daily routine? Alison McEvoy found just that when she met Margaret Lamrani of the up-and-coming fish oil company, EQology.
The Perfect Package
Omega Essentials
by Alison McEvoy
After five years of research, Margaret Lamrani finally found what she was looking for: the perfect combination fish oil with the marks of distinction she had been waiting for.
EQ pure arctic oil is extracted from cod caught in certified, sustainably managed Norwegian fisheries. The oil is cold-pressed on the trawlers and taken to laboratories inland to remove all heavy metals. Added to this pure, omega-3 laden fish oil is organic, cold-pressed olive oil (containing omega-9 and polyphenols), vitamin E (essential for omega-3 absorption), vitamin D and natural lemon flavouring (making it much more palatable than your regular fish oil).
Dr Hogne Vik, cardiologist and developer of EQ oil, recognised that, in the modern diet, omega-6 is over-consumed. When our ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 is out of balance in the body, this can make us more vulnerable to inflammation and the resulting complications. He came up with the idea to provide tests, so people can know for sure that their supplement is working to bring up their omega-3 while lowering their omega-6.
I met with Margaret to take the EQ omega test. Among the contents was an ID card onto which I dropped two little globules of my blood. I kept one half of the ID card for checking my results online, and the other half we placed into a pre-paid envelope and promptly dropped in the post. In 15-18 days I will know the exact ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 in my body!
In the meantime I am on a dose of two tablespoons of EQ arctic oil a day and in six months I will be retested to assess my progress. Stay tuned….!
EQ pure arctic oil will host a product launch and talk with developer Dr. Hogne Vik in the Clayton Hotel, Dublin Airport, on September 30th.

One of our lovely editors, Alison McEvoy, shares her story of visiting the amazing Scottish community of Findhorn. This is a must-read!
Findhorn: Climbing to the peaks of human potential
By Alison McEvoy
As in any good relationship, an understanding of the past of the person, place or thing you are relating to is essential. Initially a layer of mystery peels away from the ‘new’ you are encountering, but soon, if the understanding goes deeper, mystery is re-encountered.
Before I set foot on the Scottish soil which is home to Findhorn, I read of the lives of Eileen and Peter Caddy, and Dorothy Maclean, who arrived at the Findhorn Caravan Park In November 1962. These three spiritual warriors, guided by Eileen’s “small inner voice”, Peter’s dedicated action and Dorothy’s connection with the natural world, forged from a rubbish site within the park a spiritual, environmental and transformational community which today teems with spiritual-seeking individuals from all over the world.
‘HONOURING SPIRIT, EACH OTHER AND WHAT’S AROUND US’ (Jonathan Caddy)
Eileen, Peter and Dorothy lived into being the three principles which continue to underpin daily life at Findhorn;
- Inner Listening –connecting each person with their inner wisdom
- Love in Action – lovingly engaging in all tasks such that the process and outcome is harmonious and nourishing to people and the planet
- Co-creation with nature – enabling human beings to work in tandem with the intelligence residing in nature
Reading these principles provided a conceptual framework for understanding the unique way of doing things I encountered at Findhorn. The living into these principles opened up a whole other experience however – and mystery was reborn.
TRANSFORMATIONAL LIVING
Attending early morning Taize and silent meditation, meditating and sharing with colleagues before starting the work-day, being encouraged to see the symbolism in my work of untangling grass roots from chive roots in the herb garden…during these moments, and many more like them, the dedication of those around me to these principles nurtured a sensitivity to, and awareness of, the deeper aspects of life and myself; the spiritual and soulful side of my human-being-ness came out further into the light – a tender part which so easily retreats from the rough and tumble of less principled living.
Jonathan Caddy, son of Eileen and Peter, described the experience of a visitor to Findhorn in a way that rang true for me. He said that coming to Findhorn is like taking a “homeopathic dose” of each of these principles – at the time it seems small, but the effects can have a huge influence.
DIVERSITY IN UNITY
Findhorn is home to a wide assortment of creative, environmentally- and spiritually-minded individuals, business and projects, such that there are a variety of homeopathic doses to choose from:
THE ECO-VILLAGE is where the doors of the living, environmental laboratory which is Findhorn are thrown wide open.
Craig Gibson, Findhorn elder, regularly takes eco-village experience week groups into his home, where he reveals the experiments in building houses, growing food, generating electricity and much more which are being lived at Findhorn. “How else,” he says, “will people see and experience change?”
THE UNIVERSAL HALL is where retreats, workshops and events are held to support people from around the world to experience a new way of being.
I attended sacred dance one evening, an ancient practice for weaving people together, connecting them to each other, the seasons and the world. This was just one small sample of Findhorn’s offerings to people seeking positive connection with each other, deeper meaning in life and enlightened alternatives to the modes of competition and conflict in operation in so many sectors of society.
There is so much to explore in Findhorn that this article cannot possibly encompass the depth and breadth of all that is on offer. I invite you to read the lengthier online version and to delve into the Findhorn website at your leisure. Opportunities await!

This beautiful article appeared in our Spring 2018 issue, and here, we share it in its entirety. Following the tragic death of her son Erik, Elisa Medhus gradually began to open up to the idea of the afterlife … and felt her son draw closer to her as a result. In her books, ‘My Son and the Afterlife’ and ‘My Life After Death’ – co-authored by Erik, with help from a medium – she expressed his message of hope and consolation, as well as offering information on the hidden miracles of the afterlife can bring: a gift that is intended to help and support us during our lives here on Earth.
Insights from the Afterlife: Heavenly wisdom advancing life on earth
By Alison McEvoy
Departure
Just twenty years and fifteen days after he was born into this world as Erik Rune Medhus, Erik took his own life and entered the afterlife. His family initially plunged into a deep grief and bewilderment, but when Erik’s soul began to make contact from the beyond, a whole universe of spiritual understanding on the nature of life, death and the afterlife unfolded into their lives.
Reconnection
Erik’s mother Elisa had been raised by two atheists and had become a physician. She was a complete sceptic when it came to notions of life after death and of anything outside the scientific realm. The gift which lay in the aftermath of her son’s death was the unravelling of her scepticism about the spirit world. Erik helped Elisa to make the journey from ‘sceptic to believer’.
After various encounters had occurred between Erik and his family members, Elisa decided to have a channelling session with Spirit Translator Jamie Butler. As time went on, Erik and Elisa realized that the reconnection they were now making, and all that had happened in Erik’s life, was part of a soul contract they had made with each other.
‘One of the most interesting answers to the “why” of all the pain and suffering I experienced in my life as Erik I didn’t figure out until much later…I was supposed to be a guide and help humans, and the compassion, empathy, and listening skills I gained during my life were important for me to become a better one… [It] came down to the spiritual contract my soul had picked for itself.’ (Erik Medhus, My Life After Death)
Wisdom-sharing
Soon after Erik’s death, Elisa set up a blog called Channelling Erik®. The blog aspired to provide a community of loving support and an outlet for those experiencing pain and grief. Erik began taking part, visiting blog members and sending messages through Jamie. The nature of their soul contract began to crystallise – together they would blog, make videos and write books, bringing the wisdom of the afterlife to the earthly plane to help people live happier, more loving lives and to have faith in the great return to LOVE which awaits us after death.
Continuation of life after death
The fear Erik sensed in his loved ones, due to the belief that death was the end, was something he wanted to help them with. He wanted to assure them of there being a consciousness that remains after death and to enable them to understand death as a ‘transition’ rather than permanent separation. This work with his family was the beginning of his role as a spirit guide to help release humanity in general from the fear of death.
In his book My Life After Death, Erik shares the entire story, in incredible and often humorous detail, of his death, his funeral, meeting with deceased family members who help guide him to the other side, and coming to terms with his existence as the essence of himself as a spirit – a being of pure energy. He tells of his life review, where he is supported by a team of spirits who help him to uncover the love, understanding and forgiveness in himself which often eluded him during his life on earth.
Impressions of Erik on earth
Among the many interviews and discussions where Erik shares insight from heaven, on some of the most perplexing questions we have as humans, there are some in which Erik’s voice can be heard. In others, various orbs of lights have appeared. These impressions of sound and image which Erik makes are not apparent during the live recordings. Every so often one is discovered in retrospect and brought to Elisa’s attention. Eventually, Elisa became intrigued enough to send these impressions to audio-visual experts for analysis. The result of analysis found that the sounds had left no voiceprint and yet were, nonetheless, audible on the playback. This confirmed that the voice was not a human voice. For those that knew him, they recognise the tone and pronunciation as Erik’s own.
Connections with Ireland
The Channelling Erik® blog community continues to extend, stretching across the Atlantic with members in Ireland linking into the fold of this supportive group. Elisa and her daughter Kristina Braly visited Ireland recently to attend the wedding of a blog member in Dublin. Having flown into Shannon, they rented a car and drove along the ‘scenic route’ to the capital. They video-blogged the entire trip on YouTube, taking in the views from the Cliffs of Moher, the ring of Kerry and even kissing the Blarney stone.
We spoke to Elisa and Erik, through medium Veronica Drake, to hear what Erik had to share with Positive Life readers in Ireland. The following are snapshots from that conversation.
On LOVE:
LOVE is the universal language in heaven. The soul expresses LOVE in feelings. Erik tells us that we can bring the vibration of the heavenly realm into our earthly experience by becoming more willing to feel and express LOVE.
To stop, breathe and be in the experience of LOVE during challenging times, creates a much more compassionate existence on earth. On the heavenly plane no effort is needed, as the energy of LOVE is all-pervading. Here on earth, to make this moment to moment choice to act from the experience and energy of LOVE is part of a wider shift involving the whole of humanity. A shift which Erik assures us will occur “gracefully”, gently and yet powerfully in 2018.
On Brain vs Mind:
The Brain is like a computer. It uploads everything that happens to us. It memorises all of the mandates we are given as a child by our parents, teachers and caretakers. It is where all our ‘programming’ is stored – all those statements telling us who we are and how we are meant to be. Think ‘little girls wear pink’, and ‘big boys don’t cry’.
The Mind, on the other hand, is our energetic connection to the soul. The mind has the potential to think for itself once an individual chooses the spiritual path. When a person evolves and enlightens, the mind awakens. The mind then enables us to be conscious of CHOICE. There are choices available to us as to who and how to be, outside of the options given to us by the programming of the brain. Most significantly, an awakened mind allows us to CHOOSE LOVE instead of fear.
On emotion:
According to Erik, one mistake humans often make is thinking first and feeling second. More often than not it goes like this: we think a thought – that thought evokes an emotion – this emotion generates our decision to act in a certain way. So let’s say someone doesn’t reply to your email. You start thinking variations on the theme that this person doesn’t care, they just can’t be bothered. Cue anger, bitterness and frustration. These emotions require an outlet – namely angry, embittered actions. These actions will no doubt cause more of the same to come into being.
Instead, Erik advises us to feel first. We can CHOOSE to tap into our intuition and emotional intelligence first. We can CHOOSE to allow a true emotional connection with ourselves to occur and for these emotions to generate our thoughts and thus guide our actions. Being guided by emotional authenticity with ourselves – while this can be scary and make us feel vulnerable – is the route to a more authentic and compassionate life.
You’ll find Elisa and Erik’s blog sprinkled with offerings like these, serving the curious and the questioning among you, giving support to those whose will to live is wavering, and providing connection for those in need of comfort who have experienced the tragic death of a loved one. Erik continuously reaches out with answers from heaven and messages of insight, hope, wisdom and encouragement.
Essential Healing: Flower into Your Full Potential With Ian White
Ian White is the founder of the Australian Bush Flower Essences (ABFE), a fifth generation Australian herbalist and author of numerous books on the use of ABF Essences for everyday family life. Ian will arrive to Dublin this month to share with an Irish audience, the healing potential of these gentle yet powerful remedies.
In advance of his arrival we spoke about his upbringing in the Australian bush, the journey which led to the founding of ABFE and his vision for ABFE to be incorporated into family life all over the world.
Essential Healing: Flower into your full potential
By Alison McEvoy
INITIATION
Ian was introduced to the healing power of plants during his upbringing in the Australian bush (meaning outback or countryside) by his grandmother. Their homes backed onto a National Park and it was here, when he should have been at school, that Ian was initiated into a deep respect for, and understanding of, the health-giving capacities of Australian bush flowers. This continued for the first nine years of his life until his grandmother passed away.
Ian went on to study a science degree and it was in a roundabout way that he was led back to his grandmother’s teachings and the decision to continue the family tradition of herbal healing. It was during his own herbal, self-healing journey after he became ill in India that his passion for plant cures was reignited.
THE HEART OF THE ISSUE
The premise of flower essences is that physical symptoms stem from emotional imbalances. To treat emotional upsets is thus to treat a potential, or actual, cause of physical illness. The beauty of flower essences is that they are vibrational in the same way that emotions are. They are constantly sending out healing signals/vibrations. All we have to do is tune in to find out which essence can help us in this way.
Speaking of Waratah, the plant logo of the ABFE, Ian observes, “They’ve got this beautiful heart shape, and it’s very much working at that heart level, giving strength, giving courage, it’s for faith. We tend to use this flower for black night of the soul.” These flower essences are helping hands for humanity to gain and maintain equilibrium on all levels, especially during our darkest moments which call for great strength.
A NEW WORLD THROUGH ABFE
Ian would like to see every household stock the ABF Essences so that children can be brought up with the support they provide. For every hurdle in a child’s life there is an essence which can make these transitions and challenges so much easier. He wants to see children grow up supported emotionally and mentally so that their hearts can stay open, expressing their love, so that they are given the confidence to pursue their dreams and goals, and their physical health remains in balance. Who would not want to life in the world created by these children as adults?
Ian’s workshops will take place from Friday May 25th to Sunday May 27th at Malahide Castle in north Co. Dublin. No previous knowledge is required to attend and you are promised a fun, enjoyable day and to leave confident in your ability to use the essences on family, friends and/or patients. On Monday 28th there will be a special event for health food retailers and pharmacist staff.
Friday May 25th – Female Health Issues (Fertility, Pregnancy, Relationships…)
Saturday May 26th – Spotlights mental and emotional health
Sunday May 27th – A question and answer masterclass with Ian
