As spring begins to dawn, the beautiful Lisnavagh House will be hosting a very special Vitality Retreat, led by the dancer, yoga and somatic movement teacher Laura Sarah Dowdall. Laura practices an integrated approach to her clients’ wellbeing, using a mixture of techniques she has mastered through her study of somatic movement methods, traditional yoga, bio-energetic practices, and transformational change processes. She believes that by opening the body, clients can open their minds, and to this end, she works with each of them on a deep individual level to help them attain new insight, creativity and self knowledge.
The three-day Vitality retreat programme will include techniques based on Healing Yoga, Asana, Pranayama (breath work), Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation), Soul Dance (a dance practice Laura has developed) and voice work, amongst others. This video will give you a glimpse of what you can expect during this beautiful retreat.
In addition to the group activities, one to one Integrated Healing and Reiki sessions with Laura will be available during the retreat. These sessions, which can be purchased for €50, are designed to enhance the movement and meditation processes of the weekend, facilitating a deep level of healing for those who choose to avail of them. These clients will also receive a personally designed practice to assist them in achieving their goals.
The Vitality Retreat will take place from the 2nd to the 4th of February 2018 at Lisvanagh House, Co. Carlow. You can book tickets by emailing Laura at laura@healingyoga.ie. “Colm helped me access more of the true me by giving me the space to release my emotions though sound. His kind focus and acceptance of where I was at gave me courage to face issues around my self-expression that were stopping me from pursuing my passions in life. The workshop me helped me to transform deeply en-grained and painful beliefs about myself and move forward with new confidence.”

“If they could give you just one tip each for healthier, happier lives, Olivier says, “Do everything from a place of love.” Yvonne says, “Listen to your heart, follow your gut.” They both agree five hugs a day is an equally good alternative!”
By Elva Carri
In 2014, Olivier and Yvonne, co-owners of Naas Holistic Centre, met through a series of fateful coincidences that resulted in the pair deciding to open a space where therapists and clients could blossom into their highest potential. Olivier originally studied mathematics, “… which I believed to be the only absolute science at the time. I graduated as an Engineer in Applied Mathematics,” and now describes himself as a natural healer.
Having spent considerable time developing his skills, he is now passing these skills onto others through workshops as well as restoring clients back to full health. Yvonne, a Dublin native, began her healing journey when she was initiated into Reiki. Yvonne had never experienced Reiki before attending the training and says she didn’t know much about it, but felt a strong intuitive urge to train and notes that this strong intuitive guidance is what has driven her towards many different healing modalities and experiences.
When I asked if there were any therapies or treatments they were particularly excited about, they mentioned Solfeggio sound healing. “It’s still relatively new in Ireland. During a session, the client lies on a massage plinth while the therapist uses solfeggio tuning forks on and around the body, concentrating on the auditory system and energy centres in the body.” Yvonne is a pioneer of this therapy in Ireland and Olivier attests to the benefits of it.
If they could give you just one tip each for healthier, happier lives, Olivier says, “Do everything from a place of love.” Yvonne says, “Listen to your heart, follow your gut.” They both agree five hugs a day is an equally good alternative!

This a weekend workshop involves practical explorations with the voice, exhilarating days of singing, of learning and practicing the vocal technique of Overtone singing or chanting – for both non singers and singers alike.
Jill Purce pioneered the international sound healing movement through her rediscovery of ancient vocal techniques, the power of group chant, and the spiritual potential of the voice as a magical instrument for healing and meditation, and introduced Overtone Chanting and other Healing Voice Workshops into Europe, North America and Japan. This February you have a chance to learn from her directly.
“Discover and release your voice, learn ancient Mongolian shamanic overtone chanting- producing ethereal, powerfully meditative vocal sounds. Vocal purification practices ; transformative breathing practices; vocal meditation practice; mantra; sacred chants; vocal yogas; dream work. Essential grounding for sound healers, newcomers, singers and non singers, teachers, or healers, by the international pioneer of the healing voice, sound and voice therapy. One of the most powerful tools for self healing and healing others there is!”
Overtone chanting was and still is, also used in Central Asia, Tibet and Mongolian as a musical healing modality within the indigenous shamanic communities. Learn to amplify the resonance of the voice and makes audible the inner notes, the natural harmonic spectrum of the voice in its pure rainbow colours, so that unearthly, angelic and bell like tones are heard floating above the note being sung.
“We sing and chant in a way that reveals the structure of sound itself, so that our bodies resonate with the pure tuning of sound and our own natural geometry. This is equally accessible for singers and non singers or anyone wanting to work with their voices or teach. For singers it is the best way to develop the voice and its natural resonance, for non singers it is a wonderful way to discover the voice you never thought you had. In all traditions music and singing has had a primarily spiritual purpose- we will explore that and understand how this transforms consciousness, and how by liberating our voices in this way we make contact with ever deeper levels of ourselves and release an untapped source of energy.”
