Shamanism
Interview with Martin Duffy – Director of The Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies
On Sunday the 22nd November at 3pm Irish time, Paul Congdon will be interviewing Martin Duffy about ‘The Elements of Shamanism’, an exciting new look into the history and cosmology of shamanism, and the realms and techniques of the shaman. Paul will be relating it to the modern day and contextualising the conversation around the current climate and how we can use these tools to find wisdom and healing for ourselves and others.
Journeying to Wholeness: We Interview Martin Duffy
We love the work of Martin Duffy, a shamanic teacher and practitioner based in Dunderry Park, Navan, Co. Meath. We were delighted to speak with him for our Autumn 2019 issue, on Transpersonal Psychology, plant medicine, Wetiko and more. This is a longer version of his conversation with Paul than the one that was published in the magazine. Enjoy!
Love and The Land Preview Evening
Weaving Shamanism & NeoTantra
“10,000 blue-white suns burst within me as 10,000 polar suns burst around me . . . ecstasy in my body as I slipped underneath the river’s surface. Stubble against my thighs awakening earthy desire as I lay across the moss covered stones. Oceans of feeling rising up from my belly to explode in my heart as I’m greeted by the sunrise, fiery orange and red . . . Love and The Land.”
“We feel drawn to a shadowy glen, enticed by the graceful sweep of a tree, seduced by a scatter of stones . . . something in the land calling out to be seen and known within us . . . basic, real, substantial . . . a love that is wild, free and absolute.”
You’re invited to join Dawn Cartwright and Joe Mullally for a very special evening of Shamanic wisdom and Neo Tantra practices. An invitation to be wild, free and absolute.
Joe will share his incredible depth and knowledge in the realm of Shamanism. Born and raised in County Wicklow, Joe is a well-known traditional healer, diviner, reader and spiritual teacher. He is a former chairman of the Irish Society of Diviners and The Irish Psychic Society. Dawn and Joe will guide us through heart-centred Shamanic and NeoTantra practices perfect for singles and couples alike.
“Shamanic and tantric traditions of relationship and land are profoundly ancient ones. They speak to the soul and awaken the spirit in profound natural ways both people and place understand. They offer us deep insights into relationships and heart, into love of the land and of life.” – Joe Mullally

AN AFRO-CELT HEALER RETURNS HOME
John’s mother, Anastasia Kelly, had a vision of Africa whilst walking the Dun Laoghaire peer in the 1950’s. Who would have thought that her vision involved the mystical healing tradition of Nelson Mandela’s tribe, the Xhosa nation; and that her son would become the first Irishman to be invited to train in one of the oldest shamanic traditions in the world, the sangoma people.
In my discussions with him he was so passionate about coming home to the beginning of his journey, to the place of his Mother’s vision: Dublin, Ireland. Join us while we listen to John’s remarkable story and hear him talk about ancestors, nature spirits, immortality and the importance of listening to our Dreams. In my chat with him earlier, he said “In my experience, Paul, many people in Ireland have visions and prophetic dreams. What I hope to do is inspire people to trust in their bones, their ancestors and their Dreams. Modern Ireland is wonderful, but I still remember the Ireland of the 1970’s when my Grandmother looked after all of us in Monkstown. We listened to her dreams with rapt wonder while she made us all tea. Smartphones are wonderful, Paul, but we need to remember to listen to our elders, their stories, dreams, and the folklore of our emerald isle. Because there is more to the stories of the little people than we can possibly comprehend…”
To find out more, join me and John for a chat, book read, and workshop involving John teaching us a traditional South African trance dance. Get your dancing shoes on and your poetry books lined up….
People will have an opportunity to get a signed copy of his book.
John will be available for private sessions in the days following this event. He will also be running a one day workshop in Dublin in June followed by a 3 day retreat in Kerry.
