Float Into Bliss
Experience floatation therapy
Floatation therapy is a unique and powerful tool for healing that involves floating in a tank of water that has been enriched with Epsom Salts for an hour or two. Multiple studies have shown that this innovative therapy is highly effective at combating chronic stress and its associated conditions. The first floatation tank was developed in 1954 by the American neurophysiologist Professor Dr. John C. Lilly while working at the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) in Maryland.USA.
Pat Finlay of Slí Beatha Float House – a dedicated floatation therapy centre in Naas, Co. Kildare – also drew our attention to the groundbreaking research that Dr. Justin Feinstein has done in this area. ‘People’s awareness of floatation therapy has grown over the years,’ Pat says, ‘and I find now that when people come in for a session, they find it highly enjoyable and relaxing. Word of mouth has been our primary tool for growing the business!’
Some of the reasons people have for seeking out floatation therapy include sports recovery, improving sleep quality and the relief of fatigue. This therapy is also beneficial for problem solving, meditation, and the reduction of stress and anxiety. Some people have reported that it helps prevent burnout and increases their sense of wellbeing.
Floating combines the sensation of weightlessness with an experience known technically as Restricted Environment Stimulation Therapy (REST). Over 1,000 pounds of Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate) are dissolved into a pool with water that is maintained at human skin temperature. This super-saturated Epsom Salt solution creates a hyper buoyant environment where users naturally float on the surface without any effort. This frees the user from the effects of gravity, facilitating a deep relaxation of the body and a state of meditative calm within the mind.
