Tomorrow – Monday the 13th of August – acclaimed yoga teachers Kitty Maguire and Gráinne O’Kane will be leading a special yoga workshop called The Pirate Queen at the Fleadh Cheoil as part of the Fleadh Cheoil, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1.oo p.m. in the St. Peter’s Church of Ireland Parish Hall, Drogheda.
The Pirate Queen workshop promises to be a stunning experience: exploring the story of Grainne Mhaol through yoga, voice, live fiddle and bodhrán. Kieran Gallagher will play the bodhrán and Ben McKenzie, the fiddle. Here is a brief description of what Kitty and Gráinne will be offering:
The Practices
Warrior of the heart
– led by Gráinne O’Kane.
This is a hatha flow practice that will ground and build strength with graceful warrior sequences, to fully embody the strength and resilience of the Warrior Queen. Embracing the ocean, there will be back bends, undulations & forward folds to capture the sway of the ship at sea with the fluidity and power of the feminine energy.
The Peaceful Warrior
A Yin Yoga practice
– led by Kitty Maguire
The Peaceful Warrior will be a soothing practice of stillness throughout the body, to the sound of the bodhrán’s heartbeat, that will bring the Pirate Queen home. Working through our personal battles, we can get into what prevents the love we deserve for ourselves and others. During this practice, you will learn to let go as you bask in the stories of The Pirate Queen to the sound of voice, fiddle and bodhrán.
All are welcome to join this celebration of music and yoga fusion. To learn more about what the workshop will hold, visit the event page here.
